I recently stumbled upon Michael Klements‘s YouTube channel and a video showing how he built a 4-Bay NAS using Raspberry Pi 5.
The device looks really cool, especially with a 3D-printed enclosure Michael designed and printed. For this built you’d need:
- Raspberry Pi 5
- PENTA SATA HAT Expansion Board
- Raspberry Pi 5 Active Cooler
- 4 x Crucial MX500 500GB SSD drives (or you can even go for 4x2TB drives, if you want more disk space)
- and a few other smaller things, like screws and a 32GB SanDisk MicroSD Card
Please watch the full video for detailed instructions on how to build a NAS yourself. Enjoy!
